Why Study?

The provides a in-depth understanding of how information systems are used in the global environment. The course incorporates understanding of computer science and IT to create a hybrid course that challenges students understanding of technology and the importance it plays in organisations and society. Students will develop a strong understanding of the legal, ethical and environmental aspects that will provide a solid foundation for students moving into employment.

Course Content

Unit 1: Fundamentals of Information Technology

Understand computer hardware 

Understand computer software

Understand business IT systems

Understand employability and communication skills used in an IT environment

Understand ethical and operational issues and threats to computer systems

Unit 2: Global Information

Understand ethical and operational issues and threats to computer systems

Understand the styles, classification and the management of global information

Understand the use of global information and the benefits to individuals and organisations

Understand the legal and regulatory framework governing the storage and use of global information

Understand the process flow of information

Understand the principles of information security

The year 13 course continues from year 12 and is made up of 100& coursework. Students are required to complete 3 course works form the following options: Networks, Project Management, Internet of Everything, Mobile Technology, System Analysis and Design

Progression Routes

The course can open many pathways relating to IT. Opportunities such as IT infrastructure management, Data Analysis, Emerging Digital Technology Practitioner, Mobile Application Development. As well as these transferable skills it will also provide UCAS points towards university entry.
